ETNOGRAFYA MÜZESİ – LİVA PAŞA KONAĞI (ETHNOGRAPHY MUSEUM - LIVA PASHA MANSION)

To experience Kastamonu in the past

It was built by Mirliva Sadık Pasha between 1879 and 1881. It is a typical example of a Turkish mansion with its haremlik-selamlık (for men and women to sit separately; to occupy separate quarters in a house) sections. It was converted into an Ethnography museum in 1997.

On the ground floor of the museum, there is a photo exhibition of old images of Kastamonu. On the middle floor, which is used as a winter quarters, there is a selection of works by Kastamonu artisans. Examples of wood carving, weaving, saddle and harness manufacturing, printing, ropery and coppersmith crafts can be seen on this floor.

The third floor i.e. summer quarter is decorated as a model house. The bride’s room, living room, daily women’s and men’s sitting rooms, guest room and head rooms can be seen on this floor.
