Kastamonu Castle, the jewel in the crown of Kastamonu.
The Castle, which can be seen from almost every side of the city, stands like the crown jewel of the city.
It was built in the 12th century AD during the reign of the Byzantine dynasty Komnenos. What remains of the castle today is the inner castle part of the city, which is visible from all sides of the city, and the outer walls of the castle disappeared at the end of the 18th century.
The castle, which has a height of approximately 120 meters, has a panoramic view of the whole city. There are cisterns, dungeon, escape tunnels and the “Bayraklı Sultan” tomb in the castle.
