Yeni Cami Ve Güneş Saati (Yeni Mosque And Sundial)
Architecture during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II.
The mosque was built in 1882 - 1885 by Abdurrahman Pasha, the Governor of Kastamonu during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II, within the scope of the Madrasah, Mosque and various outbuildings project. It is a building that should be seen in terms of late Ottoman architecture.
The construction of the mosque and madrasah is important in terms of showing the increase in the population and cultural level of the city.
Sundials are artifacts that are frequently seen in Ottoman mosques and are used by mosque-goers to determine the time. Especially since the 19th century, with the widespread use of clock making, the need for sundials began to disappear.
The Sundial in the garden of the mosque is one of the works that should be seen in terms of the art of the last period.
