Seljuk-era charity work

Yılanlı Külliyesi (Serpentine Complex) was built in 1272 by Ali, son of Suleyman, during the period of Çobanoğulları Principality, as a Darüşşifa (Hospital), that is, a health and healing center, to the architect named Said from Kayseri.

The complex, which consists of two fountains, a mosque and a tomb, was destroyed by a great fire in 1837. Only the entrance gate has survived to the present day from the original structure.

It is known that the Yılanlı Mosque, one of the main structures of the Yılanlı Complex, was built in the same period with the Darüşşifa. It is known that the mosque was built by Abdulfettah al-Wali, the grandson of Abdul Qadir Gilani, the famous friend of Allah in the Islamic World.
