Türk Ocağı Binası Ve Atatürk’ün Şapka Nutku (Turkısh Hearth Buıldıng And Atatürk’s Hat Speech)
The starting point of great change
The building was built in 1893 by Karagüllezâde Mehmet Yazıcı and Karamanyan Hacı Ohannes Aga for commercial purposes.
After the Armistice of Mudros, the building was transformed into the İnebolu Youth Club, founded on July 27, 1919, where young people from İnebolu came together to discuss their ideas on the Turkish War of Independence. It was later transformed into the Turkish Hearth. On August 27, 1925, Atatürk announced the Hat Revolution for the first time with a speech he gave in this building.
Inside the building, you can see the text of this speech, photographs of the National Struggle and İnebolu that had never been published anywhere before, the Independence Medal with White Ribbon awarded to the İnebolu Bargemen’s Guild on April 9, 1924, and the wax statue of Atatürk commissioned by Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen. In addition, some of the items used by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during his visit to the district are also exhibited here.
