Mahmut Bey Camii (Mahmut Bey Mosque)

 Sanal Tur'a Giriş

The pinnacle of wood and engraving craftsmanship

It is one of the perfect examples of engraving craftsmanship on wooden architecture. It was built in 1366 by Mahmut Bey, the son of Adil Bey, the Emir of Candaroğulları and the brother of the Emir of Candaroğlu, Kötürüm Beyazıd.

The mosque is one of the unique examples of Anatolian woodworking. Its gate, the original of which is in the Kastamonu Ethnography Museum, was made by Nakkaş Abdullah -a muralist- and has survived to the present day.

The wooden workmanship of the mosque, which is one of the rare examples of Anatolian Turkish culture and art that has survived to the present day, is one of the structures that should not be overlooked to see.
