İnebolu - Şehit Şerife Bacı Anıtı (İnebolu – Martyr Şerife Bacı Monument)
A monument of Turkish women’s determination
It is a monument and a salutation which was dedicated to the invisible heroes of the victory as well as the efforts of the Heroic Turkish Army in winning the Turkish War of Independence.
The İnebolu - Ankara logistics line has a great importance in winning the Turkish War of Independence. In so much that, we are talking about an importance that made Atatürk say: “My eyes are on Sakarya and Dumlupınar and my ears are on İnebolu”. This monument is a tribute to Şerife Bacı (Sister Şerife), Halime Çavuş (Sergeant Halime), Necibe Nine (Nanny Necibe), those like them and the women of Kastamonu who held the first Women’s Rally of Anatolia on December 10, 1919, and all the heroes who pulled the oxcarts on the 95-kilometer logistics line between İnebolu and Ankara, which is called as the Independence Road today.
