Yakup Ağa Külliyesi (Yakup Agha Complex)

 Sanal Tur'a Giriş

Center of philanthropy and flavor

The founder of the complex was Yakup Ağa (Yakup Agha), son of Abdurrahman, the head of the treasury of Suleiman the Magnificent. The mosque, which is located in the complex built in 1547, was built in earlier times by Halimi Çelebi, the teacher of Yavuz Sultan Selim. At the time of its construction, the complex consisted of a mosque, a madrasah, a infants’ school, an imaret kitchen (soup kitchen for the poor and orphans) and a guesthouse.

The gate of the mosque is one of the beautiful examples of Ottoman woodwork, mother-of-pearl craftsmanship and carving art.
