İsmail Bey Külliyesi (İsmail Bey Complex)
The majesty of the Shahinshah Rock
Between 1443 and 1461, it was built by Kemalettin İsmail Bey, the last ruler of the Candaroğulları Principality, on the place known as “Şehinşah or Şahinşah Kayası (Shahinshah Rock)”.
The complex is a magnificent building that includes a mosque, madrasah, tomb, fountain, imaret (soup kitchen), inn and hamam (turkish bath).
İsmail Bey also allocated the revenues of Kurşunlu Han, which he had it built in the city center, to this complex.
The Inn in the complex is known as Deve Hanı (Deve Inn) and today, local handicrafts and dishes are offered to the visitors in the inn.
In the tomb lies İsmail Bey, who was martyred in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and in the madrasah, which is still standing, many famous scholars and intellectuals of the period were educated.
